BEST ONLINE JOBS FOR TEENS IN 2024

1. GET PAID FOR YOUR ONLINE ACTIVITY

One of the most enticing offers out there is to get paid for what you already do online every day.

Things like surfing the web and watching funny videos can earn you some spare dollars! Sound good?

You can do those things and more in your spare time with Swagbucks! This is a site where you can earn money for doing things like:

To date, Swagbucks has paid out over $600 million in cash and gift cards to their members.

It’s free to sign up and use and they have 4.3/5 Star rating on Trustpilot. You won’t make a ton of money with Swagbucks, but if you use it consistently over time you will earn some free gift cards to spend on whatever you like.

2. SHARE YOUR OPINION AND GET PAID

A very popular way for teens to earn money online today is by sharing your opinion online for cash and rewards.

This is a fantastic way to earn a bit of money in your spare time. There are companies who are spending a huge amount of money every year on market research. This helps them to understand what their customers are looking for and what they do and don’t like about their products. So, they’re willing to pay people like you for your valuable opinion.

With an estimated 43 million+ teens in the US, companies are hungry for your opinion on their products and services.

So, you can get paid to share your opinion with a popular survey site like Survey Junkie on:

  • Drinks and beverages – What do you like to drink and how often?
  • Cafes and restaurants – Where are your favorite places to eat and hang out?
  • Video games – What do you play and do you watch video game steams?
  • Beauty and cosmetics – Where do you purchase your favorite beauty brands from?

There are so many things teenagers could blog about today. The topics you could write about are endless. Some that come to mind are:

  • Photography
  • Mental health awareness

Not technically an online job but one where you can sign up online and earn money playing with adorable pooches!

You may have heard about people getting paid to walk dogs. And it can be a really good side hustle for a teenager to earn in their spare time.

If you head over to a website called Rover, you will see that you can apply to be a sitter and/or a dog walker. But please note that you need to be at least 18 years of age to use Rover.

With Rover, it’s possible to earn up to $1,000 a month by dog sitting and walking. So if you’ve got some spare time and the appropriate room and property for a dog, this could be a fun way to earn a decent amount of cash.

5. MAKE & SELL CRAFTS ONLINE

If you consider yourself creative and crafty then you may want to make and sell your craftwork online. Etsy is a good place to start listing your creations.

Whether you have a gift for beautiful drawings, painting, handcrafting jewelry or pottery, you can make a good side income on Etsy.

Many people search for unique and interesting designs they won’t find at their local mall, and Etsy is a goldmine for this.

6. START A YOUTUBE CHANNEL

It’s no secret that successful YouTubers are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year with their channels.

And there are plenty of highly paid YouTubers who are under the age of 18! Of course, they would need their parents’ consent and help with creating and uploading their videos. But if you’ve ever wanted to start your own YouTube channel then this can turn into your main source of income.

Starting your own YouTube channel is certainly time consuming and takes patience to create and upload videos and gain subscribers. But if you stick it out and keep on creating good content for your audience, you can be earning huge sums of money over the years.

The best time to start is in your teenage years so you’ve got that as a source of income as you learn and grow in other areas of your life.

If you’re under 18, you can raise this with your parents and see if they can help you start and grow your channel.

There are also many affordable courses like this one you can take to learn the ropes of starting your own YouTube channel.

7. ONLINE TUTORING

Are you a talker and sometimes get yourself into trouble with all the chatting you do? Well what if I told you, you could get paid to chat?

With SameSpeak, you can tutor other students by helping them learn English in normal conversational settings. They will pay you $10 for every half-hour session you complete. Not too shabby!

This is a popular online job for teenagers because it’s pretty easy to do and the pay is quite good. You will need a reliable internet connection, working headset and Skype account to use SameSpeak.

You can learn more about SameSpeak here.

8. PROOFREADING (SUITABLE FOR OLDER TEENS)

Proofreading documents in your spare time can earn you a tidy sum if you do enough of them over time.

Many companies are willing to pay a decent hourly rate for proofreading. They may require you to proofread blog posts, product descriptions, articles, brochures and a lot more.

Usually, previous experience in proofreading isn’t required, but you do need excellent grammar skills. Some employers may ask you to complete a test and will provide a small written piece that you will have to proofread and edit in order to get the job.

It would also be beneficial to you if you know different writing styles to help you spot grammatical mistakes and also pick up on the tone of written text to make sure it flows well.

So if you have excellent English and grammar skills, you can find and apply for proofreading jobs at places such as:

9. FLIP PRODUCTS

Flipping products online is where you essentially sell an item for a higher price, making a profit. And it’s probably one of the easiest online jobs for teens!

To be successful with flipping products, you need to buy cheap products from somewhere like garage sales or online marketplaces, then sell them online at a higher price.

If you choose your products wisely and carefully, you can make some decent side income from this. Some product ideas for flipping are household appliances, jewelry, furniture, one-of-a-kind items, books and tech.

One example of successfully flipping a product online could be purchasing a vintage handbag from a charity store for $15 then selling it online for $25, making a $10 profit. The types of places to flip products online are eBay, Amazon, Facebook, Etsy and Craigslist.

10. TEST WEBSITES

There are numerous companies who need users to test their websites for them, before and after they go live. This helps them to understand how user friendly their site is and make any necessary changes.

You will essentially be “reviewing” the website and letting them know how easy it is to navigate around the site and what you found helpful or unhelpful.

A couple of websites that you can apply to are UserTesting and TestingTime. You will need to be at least 18 years to use these sites.

You will also need your own PayPal account to get paid with User Testing.

11. REVIEW PHONE CALLS AND GET PAID

If you’re 18 years or older, you could be making money reviewing calls for training and quality purposes.

You can sign up for free with Humanatic.com, which is a website behind the customer service representative (or bot) that says “your call is being recorded for training and quality purposes”.

Humanatic hires people to listen to recorded phone calls and they answer questions about the quality of the call. Things like the friendliness/manner of the agent or how helpful the agent was during the call.

If you like the idea of earning money to review phone calls like this then you can get paid to do so (via PayPal when you reach $10).

12. MAKE EXTRA MONEY TESTING PRODUCTS

Companies release new products all the time, and they often need people like you and me to complete market research and make sure their product is working well. Which is where product testing comes in!

You can apply to test products with a site like Toluna, and actually get to keep the product for completing a survey describing your experience with the product.

And it gets better! Once you’ve got the product, you can choose to keep it or sell it online for a profit. Pretty neat!

With Toluna, testers are chosen randomly and there are a limited number of products available for each test. So make sure you get in and apply quickly for the best chances of testing products!

13. GET PAID FOR TYPING

If you love typing and have a fast and accurate typing record, then you could get paid to transcribe audio files for clients. These audio files are things like phone calls, interviews, meetings and more.

A transcriptionist listens to audio files and types what they hear. Sometimes it’s tricky when you’re unsure of what has been said in the audio file, or you may not understand the jargon being used. But if you are fast and accurate, you can apply for these typing jobs and make some money.

With GoTranscript.com, you can earn up to $36 per hour of audio transcribed. I read that their highest earner makes $1,215 per month and the average earner makes around $150 per month.

The payout is made through PayPal or Payoneer.

So if you’ve got some time to kill and think you could transcribe audio files accurately and efficiently, it’s worth applying for online transcription jobs. Some other websites for job options are Rev.comTranscribeMe and Upwork.

14. MAKE MONEY WITH CLICKWORKER

Clickworker is a company who looks for users worldwide to complete various online jobs for money. These include:

  • Text creation – write text for product descriptions, travel options, clothing items.
  • Categorization – evaluate, analyze and categorize content of websites.

These are just some of the ways you can earn with Clickworker. It’s definitely worth creating a profile and checking out the jobs on offer to see if any can work for you.

15. SELL BAKED GOODS

If you have a knack for making delicious baked goods like cookies, brownies, cakes etc. Then you could start your own small business selling these in your local area.

Of course, if you’re under the age of 18 then you can have mom, dad or other family member to help you out with the business side of things.

You could do the baking while a family member helps out with setting up a Facebook business page and marketing your goodies to sell through there. Instagram is another way to market your yummy treats.

As well as the above, you could also set up a market stall at your local markets to sell your baked goods. So if you’re interested in doing this, have a chat with your parents about helping you out here so you can make a little or a lot of extra cash to spend or save.

16. WRITE ARTICLES ONLINE

There are many websites out there offering freelance writing jobs to young people, including high schoolers. An example is Hubpages.com which is a brilliant site that accepts teens (with parental consent). This is one of the best ways for young people to gain work experience in the freelance writing world.

If you love to write and are good with English and grammar, then you may want to consider writing articles for companies online.

Another site worth mentioning is Freelancer.com, which you can join if you’re 16 or over, if you want to make money freelance writing as an older teen.

17. LISTEN TO AND REVIEW MUSIC

Whether you’re a ‘Belieber’, JT, Tay Tay or Rhi Rhi fan, listening to and reviewing music for money is a pretty sweet deal!

Music artists love to get honest feedback from teens about their music to help them create more or less of the same music. You can help struggling artists get a foot in the door while making some cash with Slicethepie.

All you need to do is sign up for a free account and you can pretty much start reviewing music straight away.

You will listen to a track for a minimum of 90 seconds and note down what you liked or disliked about the track.

The more detail you go into with your review, as this is super helpful to the artist, the better your chances of earning the most amount of money for that review.

While you’re not going to make a lot of money reviewing music, it’s a nice way to try something different and help artists out while making some pocket money.

20. SELL CLOTHES ON POSHMARK

I know many teens who have a closet full of clothes that haven’t been touched or even looked at in a long time. Chances are, you’re never going to wear those items again!

So why not make some money by selling unwanted clothing on Poshmark? The higher the quality of clothing and brand, the more money you can make.

This is a great way to clear out your closet and make some spare cash while doing it.

BEST TIPS WHILE LOOKING FOR ONLINE JOBS FOR TEENS

HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT READY

It would be wise to have a PayPal account ready to use when you’re applying for jobs online. Reason being most companies pay via PayPal.

You need to be at least 18 years of age to open a PayPal account. If you’re under 18, ask your parent or carer to open an account for you that they can withdraw the money from for you.

BE WARY OF SCAMS!

Unfortunately there are more scams than you can know on the internet. And while there are many legitimate ways to earn money online, there are many scammers out there too.

Always be aware of any companies asking for payment and double check with your parents if you’re unsure about anything money related online.

Keep your personal information safe and never hand over your home address, phone number etc. to a company you don’t know much about.

The general rule online is that if something looks too good to be true, it probably is. So remember to check anything you’re unsure about with your parent or carer.
